Nelson Mandela International Day, also known as Mandela Day, is held on July 18 each year. This is the day that he was born in Transkei in 1918. The day remembers Mandela’s achievements in working towards conflict resolution, democracy, human rights, peace and reconciliation. He fought for social justice for 67 years. “Do not judge me by my successes, judge me by how many times I fell down and got back up again.”
